Hi, I’m Marissa. A born and raised Floridian from the land of the free! I fell in love with an Italian and it changed my world in an instant.

Florida Travel USA Sunshine Live Move

I moved from a typical American home in Florida: single-family with a fenced-in yard, year-round heat, and flat land, to a 1 bedroom condo-like home: with mountains, and where it is cold (it even snows, Eeeeek!) for 6 months out of the year!

However, when it’s hot here, it’s blazing! Oh, and by the way, we DON’T HAVE AIR CONDITIONING. It’s pretty standard in Italy.

So, what's this blog about?

This blog is about my drastic move across the world. It has been a beautiful, frustrating, and messy experience, but I want to share it ALL with you.

Even though I am loving my life here in the North of Italy, near Milan, I wish I had someone share their personal experiences and advice with me to help along the way.

& that’s why this blog was created!

A little bit about me:

My favorite way to travel is to cruise. It’s actually how I met my husband, Marco!

I will refer to him a lot throughout my articles and he plays a HUGE role in this blog’s success.

He does a lot of the “behind the scenes” work and is a history buff. He brings culture and antiquity to the articles. If it weren’t for him, you would be reading only about beautiful buildings and shopping, my specialty!

I have the sweetest dog in the world, Kobe. He is almost 14 years old and he made the trip with me all the way from Florida-Georgia-Amsterdam-Italy!

I actually never had Italy on my bucket list. In fact, my dad wanted to plan a family cruise to Italy and I complained that we should go somewhere more tropical instead. Shame on me!!

Some of my favorite things to do in Italy:

  • Eat pizza
  • Eat pasta
  • Eat gelato

I’ve always been naturally pretty thin, but mannnnnn am I going to have to start really working out hard.

It’s the first time in my life that I am noticing a belly! HEHEHE!

More about USA goes to Italy

Coming from the USA, going to Italy, and knowing absolutely nothing sent me on a search.

I was scouring the internet for blogs and websites about what to expect when moving from the USA to Italy and I didn’t find near the information I wish I had.

You know, not just the typical “Come visit this city” type posts. Above all, I wanted the real, raw, experiences of culture shock, and what to be expected.

While I will be sharing the beauty of this country, I also promise to keep it real with you.

With my Italian husband by my side, you get to read about the best of both worlds! We have two very different perspectives. As a result, it will serve you well while making the move or while traveling!!

Are you ready to start planning your trip to Italy? Go check out my article on traveling to Milan!

Want a change? Thinking about moving? Check out our articles! We have everything from packing your bags, what to do after moving, and how to make sure you stay

In conclusion, It’s my hope that this blog will inform you and make your time in Italy even more enjoyable.

Dive into the experiences of our lives.

XOXOXO
